Harvey "Beau" Nelson, a cabinet maker, started carving in 1996 after special ordering some wood for a customer who never came to get it. For a long time, Nelson said, he left the wood sitting to one side of his shop. However, he grew frustrated with the expense and decided to use it himself. "I kept looking at that wood," Nelson said. "So I bought a book (on carving), and I've been doing it ever since."

As a self-taught artist, he has perfected his craft through many hours of hard work. His expertly detailed and painted wildfowl, birds of prey, song birds, and yes-even fish are true pieces of art! Each piece is mounted and signed - the mounts reflecting the natural habitat of their subjects. Each piece is one of a kind. Beau has many pieces already carved and available for sale. Visit his page of available carvings.
He also makes pieces to order.
